He is still Banana's. I am speaking of the ever so great skipper of the Conquest, Joel Ralston. Not only is he the hardest working and one of the most knowledgeable, he is the most entertaining. Trip #4 started like most of the trip getting logged in and meeting new
people, but this trip felt different. I had recently met some anglers from the Vegas area and they really brought a great attitude to the boat.
We left the harbor with a fresh load of sardines and delicate chovie. Our destination was the 60 mile bank. The 100+ mile bite had slowed with the fish moving north so we opted to get 2 good days of fishing in rather than one. The past few weeks on the water were
tough, but we all had a good feeling.
We awoke to 6 foot seas and 15 knot wind that put a chill in most of us, but It wasn't going to stop us. I stopped the boat first with a Sevenstrand Black and Green feather. One bait fish and we were off again. "Picking and Scratching" It was going to be one
of those mornings. At 9:30 we had 12 fish for the 18 on board and with a nice stop at 10:15 we were doubled. The day went on like this with mostly jig strike all day. Note, after noon the hot feather was Blue and White!
Day 2 was more of the same.
We had to call in for bait, which was delivered by the Sea Adventure. Thanks Chuck!!!!. A few good stops, with good bait fish finished the day around noon. A mackerel CD-18 Rapala, trolled by Johnny O, was one of the special notes of this trip. On day 2 he trolled it
very successfully stopping the boat 3 times in a row and taking our count to 105 Albacore and 2 yellowtail.
After some spicy chicken wings and a great Ribeye steak dinner, I presented the raffle prizes to their new owners. Kicker Jigs went to Johnny O, Chris Pyle, Jamie Tan and Bert Withsosky. The Seeker CTS60H, black diamond rod, was won by Rick Spencer (no relation) and
the Penn 500L was won by the Jack-Pot winner Randy Miller. Great job!!!
One special note, this group of individuals had a great time. Their unity was apparent visually. Several times during the trip the anglers were washing decks, gaffing fish, assisting others and overall working as a team. As the Charter Master of this group I felt
honored to have put together such a great group! Thank you everyone, you made this trip special!!!
Hat's off to the crew of the Conquest. Thanks to you this is all possible!!
Thank you to the sponsor's, Seeker Fishing Rods , Kicker Jigs For all their support and effort to making quality fishing products. You are the best in the
biz!!!
